Osim što je igra bila izvan kalendara, jer se pojavila pred sam kraj godine, ispostavilo se i da nije ni zaslužila da bude na listi, jer joj kvalitet to ne obezbeđuje.

To se pokazalo i na The Game Awards ceremoniji, na kojoj se igra pojavila u samo dve kategorije i izgubila u obe, baš kao što je bio sličan slučaj i sa prethodno The Golden Joystick nagradama.

Istini za volju, ni Resident Evil: Village nije tako dobro prošao na The Game Awards-u, ali je igra, ipak, nagrađena statuetama, za razliku od Cyberpunk 2077, za koju se CD Project Red nada da će kao i The Witcher serijal, pažnju publike steći u godinama koje dolaze, jer će izdavaču očigledno toliko i trebati da popravi sve ono što je u toj igri pogrešno.
